Columbia World Outreach was born on Sunday July 13th, 1997 with a core group of approximately 35 people at the Best western Hotel in Cayce, SC. The original name was Cornerstone Christian Fellowship, which was later, changed to CWO (Columbia World Outreach). The name was changed to reflect the vision and to establish a church in Columbia, SC for people of every race, color and background (Revelations 7:9-10). After meeting one week at the Best Western in Cayce, SC, the church secured a lease at Midlands Technical Community College (Beltline campus) in the small drama theater. Six months later the church outgrew the theater and moved to the F.R.A.T. House in Columbia for nearly two years (shortly after the F.R.A.T. House, CWO moved to Forest Drive Baptist Church while its current facilities at 523 Superior Street were being constructed). CWO is committed to being “a healing place for a hurting world,” reaching out to all people with the gospel of Jesus Christ. We are not bound by traditions or by doing things the same way they have always been done. We believe and rely on the Holy Spirit’s direction. We wholeheartedly believe that God is building His church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. We believe Jesus Christ is coming soon and therefore we commit ourselves to do the work of the Kingdom.
